“The upper (movable) ladder of lantern will be of wrought iron, of the form and dimensions indicated, Hooks 1 inch round are formed on the upper ends for grasping the pieces of 1 1/4″ gas-pipe supported by the cast-iron sockets, at the angles of the cornice. Each tread is formed of two rods, 1/2” inch diameter, placed so as to be horizontal when the ladder is in its inclined position against the lantern.
